Christopher Walken Narrates the Raven

Maybe because it's Oscar season, but as I mentioned before I recently decided to do a Christopher Walken series. I'm a big fan of Walken, because he's an actor that is in his line of work simply because he loves what he does, and is a true craftsman at his art. There isn't much the man can't do as an actor, thespian, SNL comic, and of course, a dancer. I heard an audio file where he narrated Poe's "Raven" and I thought it would be neat to do some kind of booklet jacket or the like. It's one of those works you do simply because you can, and has no actual commercial merit though it does show what kind of work is of interest to you.

I was in an appropriately gloomy and pissy mood when I started this illustration a while back.

Welcome

Now that my blog is officially made public and tied in with my site, I just wanted to welcome any new visitors.

I recently joined myspace -- I dragged my feet with that for the longest time (I guess I had to get over my mental stigma that it was some place overrun with emo kids and cleavage shots.) I have found it to be a surprisingly fun and pleasant experience, networking with my fellow artists, keeping tabs with family, and finding old friends. And I don't know why, but every time I go through requesting or adding of friends process I hear Adam Sandler/Bobby Boucher's Waterboy voice saying, "thanks ....fwiend...!"

February 18

I've finally had a day or so to catch my breath following a massive string of frantic artistic activity in the last month or so.

I've been EXTREMELY busy but in a very good way. I did an illustration for Delta Airlines' Sky magazine, am in the negotiation stages for a new apparel company out of Soho in London, and have recently been working on artwork that will possibly be used for one of those clients/jobs I always thought would be super cool but I can't say anything more about that, as much as I'd like to.

Also am finishing a portrait illustration of Christopher Walken, simply because I could, and Walken is my utmost favorite actor ever to walk the planet. It's high time I did some entertainment and music industry illustrations. A "more cowbell" illustration will be in the works as well. That one is going to be a lot of fun to do!

Here is my submission for "If you could." If you could do anything on a given day, what would you do? It's truly been an honor to be invited to participate among so many accomplished artists, including Marion Deuchars, Jon Burgerman and Gary Baseman.

I still have a ton of things to do -- and I honestly don't think I really get any sleep any more.
